black-capped chickadee

~ click to enlarge photos ~
This black-capped chickadee ran into the basement
window a couple weeks ago. At first it was very
stunned. My brother set it down on a sunflower
and it eventually regained its senses and flew off.

Nice save. Looks nearly like our UK coal tits.

Wonderful that you were able to safely save the little chickadee. They are so cute, I love watching them at my feeder!

Window strikes can be so deadly. Since I have put mylar windsocks on our windows, we have only had one and that was in a hawk panic...Michelle

I'm glad it survived. I am very partial to chickadees. We have a lot of Carolina Chickadees which are almost identical to the black capped chickadees. The carolina chickadees are a little smaller. One thing I read though is the main way to tell is by range map since they don't generally leave their range area. I can't tell much difference between your shot and the ones in my yard but I know you are in black capped territory and I'm in carolina territory.
